Pyweek 3 is over

Sep 24, 2006 in Game Dev

The judging phase of Pyweek is over.

I’m happy to report that my team (ThreeLittlePygs) ended up in a 4-way tie for 4th place in overall average ratings (score of 3.4 / 5.0), as well as 4th place in Production values (score of 4.0 / 5.0)
Our game is called ‘Search for the Red Herring‘, so take a look if you’re curious.

I’m very happy with the results, and quite honestly wasn’t expecting to do so well. :D :D It was great fun, and I encourage anyone interested in the rapid creation of games in a fun environment to participate in the next Pyweek!

Oh! I almost forgot… I now have all of the interesting art assets from the game available here on my website, so go take a look.

Cool Link of the Day:

  • Line Rider! Draw lines and then a little guy on a sled will ride on them. Cool fun wow!

Way2Far.ca Logo Idea #1Way2Far.ca Logo Idea #2

Ryan Noble, a friend of mine, asked me to create a logo for his mission to beat a world record! This is the result.

I collaborated with the great Jeff Powers on this one. Vector art is fun!

EDIT: Just as an update, I figured I’d mention here that way2far.ca has changed their name. They are now A Noble Quest. Though that I do agree that the new name better reflects their venture, it consequently means that the logos that Jeff and I worked on are no longer of use. *sad panda face* Regardless of whether my logo is used or not, I applaud their efforts and wish them luck in their quest! :D

Well, what do you think? My website is now a blog! I hope this new format will encourage me to post more often, resulting in a totally less boring website. ;)

I’m using Simple PHP Blog with a few of my own tweaks thrown in.

As you may or may not be able to tell, I still have to import a lot of my content from my old website. I have even preserved some of my old news entries from the earlier years of my website.

Have fun and explore! Be sure to subscribe to my RSS feed! (located on the lower right corner of page)

Pyweek! Woo!

Sep 14, 2006 in Game Dev, Personal

I have participated in the 3rd Pyweek! I joined “Team Roebros” aka “ThreeLittlePygs” and created all the artwork for the game The Search for the Red Herring. Of course, I’m releasing all of the artwork under a free license for everyone to use. I’ll be adding it to my game art gallery page in the very near future.

In addition, I’ve written a couple Python utilities that I think some people might find useful, so when I have a spare moment, I’ll put them up on my website as well. (Under the good ol’ GPL of course!)

Some links for you:

  • Nintendo Wii. Everyone’s talking about it. I’m totally going to get one! :D
  • If you have any python experience or spriting experience and would like to contribute to a cool opensource project, the GalaxyMage tactical RPG project would love to have you!
  • After a long period of inactivity, it appears that someone has picked up the SuperTuxKart project!
