About
Hello, I’m Chris Hopp, more widely known as Fydo.
In a nutshell, I’m a software developer / systems analyst living in Alberta, Canada. I’m married to Kristen, and we live in an apartment together near the University of Alberta.
I’m a software developer / systems analyst for APPROACH and I develop and maintain several pieces of software, ranging from VB6 data-entry applications to full-fledged .NET web-based applications.
I’ve been on the Internet since I was a child, and I’ve been using the name Fydo since 1994. I was originally drawn to the name because Fido, in latin, means ‘I Trust’.
I like playing video games a lot, as well as board games and role-playing games.
Having grown up loving both playing and creating games, I have fond memories of writing very basic games in BASIC as a small child. Bleep bloop.
I love Open Source stuff (Hooray for Linux!) and have contributed to several Open Source projects, including the (now defunct) GalaxyMage. I love Python and PyGame, and I participate in the biannual PyWeek Game Programming Challenge as well as the Ludum Dare game programming competition.
I also enjoy drawing pictures and fiddling around on my guitars. Twang!
… Oh yeah, and I’m really a cat.
